the project focused on redesigning the terrace lounge of an existing, operational restaurant. while the core structure remained unchanged, several key alterations were made to refresh the space and elevate its overall atmosphere.
a striking curved wall was introduced at the entrance, serving both as a bold design feature and a subtle way finding element that guides guests towards either the indoor or outdoor seating areas. to make the wall truly stand out, an artist was commissioned to create a custom artwork that wraps around it, adding a unique, artistic touch from the moment guests arrive.
as patrons enter the semi-covered space, they are greeted by a calming combination of wood, rust-toned flooring, and lush greenery. the primary color palette features shades of blue, which offer a contrast to the warmer materials and tones in the space. the original semi-covered area was reimagined with greater flexibility, dividing it into two distinct zones: an enclosed, air-conditioned seating area and a newly designed, partly covered section. this division allows the space to adapt seamlessly to changing weather conditions and seasonal moods, creating an inviting environment at any time of year. expansive glass and metal partitions separate the two areas, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors while allowing natural light to flow freely, maintaining a strong visual connection between the two spaces.
the seating was designed to accommodate a wide range of needs, from intimate lounge settings to larger communal tables. this flexibility ensures that the space can cater to everything from casual gatherings to larger events with ease.
in the enclosed, air-conditioned area, a large tree crowned with a striking light fixture serves as the focal point of the room. its presence is complemented by a patterned floor that enhances the warm tones of the surrounding furniture. the far wall, an extension of the artwork from the entrance, creates a sense of continuity and visual harmony throughout the space. the bar, designed to be a central feature, is also housed in this area. curved gold-painted sheets wrap over the existing structure, and pendant lights hang gracefully above the bar, adding a touch of elegance.
the curved entrance wall continues to guide guests toward the outdoor seating area, while a corridor leads to the restrooms. a terracotta jali wall separates the two zones, allowing light to gently filter through during the day. at night, the same wall transforms into an ambiently lit backdrop, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for the outdoor seating area.
the outdoor space was also enhanced with new flooring, an abundance of plants, and improved lighting. the previously opaque railing was replaced with glass, opening up the area and creating a more seamless connection with the surrounding environment. the furniture was upholstered in shades of blue and green, replacing the old red theme, while carefully selected tabletop designs contrast with the flooring to maintain visual balance. the lush greenery becomes a central focus of the outdoor space, bringing a fresh, vibrant energy to the environment.
overall, the design emphasizes versatility, comfort, and a strong connection to nature. it creates a dynamic and immersive space that enhances the dining experience, making it equally enjoyable throughout the day and night.
