After setting up the first craft brewery and restaurant at the factory premises in Bengaluru, Geist approached us to design their first Taproom at Orion mall, Bengaluru as part of their expansion strategy. Taprooms serve the dual purpose of establishing the identity of the brand as well as serving their beers at multiple locations in the city.
The space had to be designed in such a way that the customers can easily connect the brand from the factory to the various outlets in terms of the feel of the space as well as the elements used and at the same time establish its own identity.
The site was a glass pavilion overlooking the existing plaza and water body where only seating was allowed along with a small area inside for services like kitchen, bar and toilets. The feel of sitting in the pavilion and overlooking the plaza was retained, however the backdrop was changed to bricks in continuation of the aesthetics used at the factory and a brick arch was added to give a twist to the space.
The bar was taken out to break the monotony of the linear seating. The counter top of the bar was in red quartz and wood giving it a strong identity as it was positioned right at the entry of the taproom. The furniture and lighting used was similar to the one used in the factory. The front elevation was defined by mesh railing and landscape along the entire edge. The landscape was planned to eventually cover the glass pavilion so as to get the feel of sitting in a garden.
