After setting up the first craft brewery and restaurant at the factory premises and their standalone taproom at Orion mall, Geist approached us to design their second Taproom at Bharatiya mall, hennur as part of their expansion strategy.
The space had to be designed in such a way that the customers can easily connect to the brand from the factory to the various outlets in terms of the feel of the space as well as the elements used and at the same time establish its own identity.
The site consisted of two spaces, one being a double volume indoor space and the other a large outdoor space.
In terms of design, the indoor space was divided into two floors with the main kitchen, bar counter and toilets on the ground with the seating on the first floor that overlooks the outdoor space.
The double height was retained above the bar counter giving a grand entrance in the centre.
Elements of a varnished coffered ceiling, red brick cladding, green walls along with lush landscape and ambient lighting set the mood for the interior space.
A steel structure was constructed in the outdoor space to accommodate a live kitchen, a beer dispensing bar counter, a private dining area and a seating area above. A retractable roof covers the entire structure that brings in the flexibility to open and close the roof depending on the weather conditions.
The space between the two structures – indoor and the steel comprises of a large open space that has been designed as a beer garden with bench seating, lush landscape and string lights.
Bright and colourful murals and artwork adorn the walls of the space creating interesting photo spots and connecting the Geist brand with their previous outlets along with a unique identity for this beer garden setup.
